Elder abuse includes physical and financial abuse, as well as neglect. Tough laws mandate that nursing homes and other care custodians provide clean and safe environments where individuals receive dignified and essential help with daily activities including proper hygiene, nutrition, hydration, and assistance with medication. Failing to meet these standards is a crime and victims of elder abuse and their families now have a better form of redress against such abuses.
